Olympic Antics :o)

We certainly do love our Olympic Games!

Whether it be the winter or the summer ones, it makes no difference to us.  As long as the sport is pure, the politics is absent or silent, and the judging is fair, it can't be any better for us [except that we have started saving for the 2016 summer games, whether they are in Chicago, or elsewhere, we will be there :o)]

As you may have figured out by now, Beth and I have a unique sense of humor, and we crack each other up when the Olympic anthem plays.  We alternate between the drums, the arm raising celebrations, and what I have started to call semaphore (a combo of the two, "tanks Beth for the spell assist :o).

Between the jet lag from coming back from Sunny CA, and watching the Olympics, I have not been to bed before 1:00 A.M., this week (Men's team, Woman's team, then Men's all-around, and last night Women's all-around).  But I am managing, and more importantly, enjoying the games [I have four more years to sleep <<LOL>>].

The swimming ends tomorrow, but just now, Phelps won his 7th Gold (1/100th of a second), tie with Spitz, and a chance for the best Olympics ever tomorrow in the medley.  UNBELIEVABLE.

I almost took that as sarcasm. Has there been a more political Olympics since Moscow in '80? And both the judging and the purity of competition seems to have sucummbed (sp?) to the Chinese desire to win at all costs. I find no joy in the games this year.

I'm not one that usually watches the games, but the swimming has captured me this year.  Get some sleep.

I rarely respond to comments, but I feel a need in this case.  My entry intended zero sarcasm, and we truly are enjoying the games.  While there have been moments of nationalism (what host country does not do that?).

Here at Bucko-Land (a.k.a., Nutwood Junction), we take the high road, and enjoy the pure competition, especially for the non-professional athletes.

As always Dan, I consider you a friend, and love reading your journal, but in this case, I must express an differing opinion :o)

Of Course, that what our J-Land community is all about!

Phelps WAS unbelievable! There was much rejoicing here at Nutwood! One one hundreths of a second. Holy crap.

You don't have FOUR years to sleep, only two--until the winter Olympics!

Seeing Phelps win was a thrill to me.   I especially love the swimming.
I hope the 401 Medley relay gives him the record 8th Gold Medal.   Pat
