LA or Beijing???

Not a bad travel day yesterday.  60 minute delay getting out of South Bend, but we had a scheduled 3.5 hour layover in Minneapolis, so no problem there.  We had a nice long walk through the airport, which was very dreary due to a summer storm waging outside.

We then went to Chili's Too and had a nice traditional breakfast; eggs, home fried potatoes (about a quarter one each, a little skimpy on that :o), toast, bacon, juice and coffee (for me).  It was nice and relaxing.

Our arrival into LAX was only 20 minutes behind schedule.  When we booked our flights, there were only window/middle seat combos available, so I had a rare window seat (I normally get the aisle to give me more shoulder room).  Looking out the window on our arrival, the smog and haze was unbelievable.  Driving east out of the city, all the road signs are dark and dank, obviously due to all the auto exhaust.  I always hate seeing what we will be breathing as we fly into L.A..  We have been reading about the bad air in Beijing, and how some of the athletes are arriving only in time for the competition.  It must be really bad there.

Tried to get the Cubbies on the tube, but they do not follow them out here in Dodger/Angels land.  Did find out that there was another spanking yesterday, can you SAY SWEEP!

We went to Market Night in Yucaipa, and had a nice time walking and looking at the booths, hearing Big Papa and the TCB (a local blues band that my Cousin's boyfriend knows), and having some Hawaiian Barbeque.

Came back and watched Saw IV with their kids.  It was a great start to the Friend and Family Tour :o)
