The Politics of Power :o(

The below information shows how the power that comes with some political positions can be misused.  I am a big believer in my "gut feelings" and my gut tells me that Palin is not a good choice for the Republicans.  She is under investigation for several instances related to abuse of power.

More importantly, I feel sorry for the people of Detroit, they are already struggling with a greater than 8% unemployment rate, and an increase in Michigan to more than 14% of the population being below the poverty line.  The last thing they need is all this focus on power abuse, because that means there is less attention being paid to the daily trials and tribulations of the Detroit inhabitants.

Detroit Mayor Kwame KILPATRICK this morning entered two guilty pleas on felony charges of obstruction of justice. He agreed to a five-year reporting probationary period, will serve 120 days in Wayne County jail, resigned as Mayor of Detroit and agreed to pay $1 million in restitution.

The plea agreement brings to an end a months-long struggle over an $8 million settlement in a whistle-blower lawsuit that Kilpatrick misled the City Council about in an attempt to hide misuse of funds and extramarital affairs.

As part of the deal, the Mayor submitted to the court his letter of resignation and agreed not to run for or hold public elective office for the five-year period of the probation.  As part of the deal, Kilpatrick will turn over the value of any Detroit pensions or State of Michigan pensions and he will receive credit for those pensions against the $1 million in restitution.

Don't go with your gut! That's how Bush mis-"governed" for 8 years. Use the brain God gave you--it's not a bad one!

... I think I alluded to both Palin and 'Hizzoner' in a recent entry ... there is NO WAY that McCain and Palin should be in the White House ...

Officially letting you know that I will not comment on any McCain/Palin bashing.  We will just agree to disagree on the subject.
